Curtis Yeltow is the Governor of South Dakota. He impregnated Mayla who was working for him at the time and paid her a lot of money not to reveal that he was the father. When Mayla dies, he tries to adopt the baby, but once Geraldine identifies the baby, the baby goes to his grandparents. 

The file that was in Geraldine’s possession, which proves that Curtis is the father of the baby, finally becomes public. Even though the truth about Curtis is revealed, there are no further consequences for him, being in a position of power.
