Zack Peace is one of Joe’s best friends. Together with Angus and Cappy, they spend most of the summer together, occasionally visiting his grandmother Ignatia Thunder. His father is Corwin Peace who is a traveling musician and almost never home. Like his father, Zack is a talented musician.

In his twenties he follows his stepfather in becoming the chief of the tribal police. He first called after Landreaux accidentally shoots Dusty Ravich.
